The majority of my commercial work centers on smaller, table top products. Typically these are for catalogs and web based images that require the background to be dropped out.

In this mix are some location, people as well as a couple of tear sheets.

My travels have taken me through Europe concentrating in France, The Netherlands, England and Scotland.

Thanks to Tom Kraft and Dr. Arvid Mukes, my background is color theory and color reproduction.  However, I consider the ultimate challenge to be the black-and-white print. If you can master the tonal range of grayscale reproduction, color will fall right in line.  In fact, the best color scanner operator I know is actually color blind.

Market Shots - started off as a complete experiment. Two major influences of mine, Todd Bertolaet and Roland Miller (former instructors) have always tried to break me of the habit of shooting at ƒ/64 and keeping everything straight and parallel (refer to Mirrors). So I kept my camera on my hip, used hyper-focus and shot blind. Market Shots is a continuing project with images from Haifa, Paris, Reims and Amsterdam

Mirrors - repeating patterns, synchronous lines and the concept of infinity have always fascinated me. Perhaps that is why I am enthralled with the life works of three people; Euclid (b. 300BC), known as the “Father of Geometry”, incorporated lines, angles and tangents, Christian Doppler (1803 – 1853) a mathematician and physicist known for what is known as the Doppler effect, studied the apparent change in frequency and wavelength relative to a wave’s source, and lastly is M. C. Escher (1898 – 1972) and his later works dealing with infinity and infinite  loops.

Welcome to a collection of stuff I’ve thrown together, just me goofing off.

Color Study - is theme based in that I am looking for relatively neutral scenes where there is one predominant color that draws your eye right to it.

General BS - does not need any explanation.

Night Shots - was my first experience with the Canon 5DMII. These images were taken at 2:00am on a cold December morning as the fog was blowing through. Exposure time was about 2 minutes and I was blown away at the quality and clarity of the files the camera produced.

Sporting Events - on occasion I get to go out and shoot some sports.

More images will be posted soon.
